This newsletter provides an overview of all upcoming activities for PhD students organized by the doctoral schools and links to other potentially interesting events or information.

1. New 'Podcasts & videos'-section on the doctoral schools website 

We are excited to introduce a brand-new section on our doctoral schools website: 'Podcasts & videos'. This feature is dedicated to bringing you a curated collection of engaging and informative multimedia content related to doing a PhD, doing research, PhD careers,.... Stay tuned and explore this enriching resource, tailored specifically for our research community! If you know interesting podcasts & video's that are suitable for our target group (PhD researchers & postdocs), please let us know!

2. Career Week 2024

In the week of June 10-14, the UHasselt Career Center is organizing the second edition of the Career Week. For five days, you can attend all sorts of activities related to the topic of career development. The programme includes workshops on topics such as strengths, LinkedIn, leadership and networking, individual CV coaching, conversations with our UHasselt recruiters, speed dating with colleagues from other faculties, a photobooth and much more. Make sure to register for the activities of your choice!

3. UHasselt-doctors gezocht voor de Vlaamse PhD Cup 2024 (Dutch)

Ben je in de voorbije twee jaar tot doctor gepromoveerd? Dan daagt de Vlaamse PhD Cup je uit om je onderzoek met iedereen te delen: zonder voetnoten of specialistentaal, maar gebracht als een helder verhaal. Na een intensieve vierdaagse mediatraining volgt de ultieme uitdaging: “Kun jij de kern van je doctoraat uit de doeken doen in een heldere presentatie van drie minuten?” De inzet: een opleidingsvoucher voor de Vlerick Business School t.w.v. 5.000 euro, een eigen video bij de Universiteit van Vlaanderen en kans op een boekpublicatie bij Academia Press. Training for professionals, built on academic expertise with the aim of creating a unique learning environment to refine and broaden your expertise.

5. Flanders’ training network for methodology and statistics (FLAMES)

Courses on statistics and methodology, which take place throughout the academic year at all Flemish universities. The FLAMES summer school and courses organized at Hasselt University are listed in this newsletter; the others can be found on the FLAMES website.

6. Interuniversity course offer for young researchers

The doctoral schools of Hasselt University partner with the other four Flemish universities which results in an interuniversity course offer open for young researchers of the five partner universities.

7. EURECA-PRO

The EURECA-PRO Alliance consists of 9 partners who joined forces to enable students, researchers and staff to study, teach and research in the field of responsible consumption and production with the long-term goal of a joined virtual and integrated European campus until 2040. They also organize regular activities for (young) researchers.

8. Pitch Please

Pitch Please wil jongeren inspireren, informeren, uitdagen en ondersteunen om hun ondernemende kwaliteiten aan te scherpen. Een overzicht van de Pitch Please activiteiten kan je online terugvinden.

9. Flanders AI Academy (VAIA)
