This newsletter provides an overview of all upcoming activities for PhD students organized by the doctoral schools and links to other potentially interesting events or information.

1. EURECA-PRO PhD pizza night 

Even in a sustainable world, we still need to eat, and what’s better than a homemade pizza? A homemade vegan pizza! During Sustainable Week (Duurzame Week), EURECA-PRO UHasselt invites PhD students to join us for a fun and cosy evening, filled with delicious food and drinks. Create your vegan pizza, and get to know your fellow PhD students! And yes... it's free ;). This is a unique opportunity to learn more about our European University on Responsible Consumption and Production (EURECA-PRO)! Join us on wednesday 26/03/25 at 17:30 in the Wintertuin, Building D, Campus Diepenbeek for a fun and cosy evening with delicious homemade vegan pizza and drinks. This event is completely free, but spots are limited, so be sure to register before 01/03/25!

2. The Researchpreneurship Mindset Bootcamp

After a successful edition last year, the 5 Flemish universities facilitate a second edition of the Researchpreneurship Mindset Bootcamp in Ostend, helping you to unlock your entrepreneurial potential. UHasselt secures 3 spots for researchers who want to be immersed in entrepreneurial thinking and who want to gain a better insight into their future career. Register via this website until April 4, 2025. 

3. Pitch yourself! Connect and interact with non-academic professionals

Another edition of 'Pitch yourself: Connect and interact with non-academic professionals' will take place on May 19 and May 22, 2025. It is a perfect initiative to work on your presentation and interviewing skills in order to become a stronger applicant when transitioning to the non-academic world after your PhD/postdoc. More information can be found on our website and register by sending a short motivation to careercenter@uhasselt.be by April 28, 2025.

4. The interuniversity Job market for young researchers

Join us at the live Job market for young researchers at Flanders Expo Ghent on 27/03/25 (12:00-19:00). Prepare by attending a series of online lunchtime sessions with participating companies and organisations to explore their company culture, job opportunities and much more. As part of the online preparatory programme, you can have your CV reviewed and discuss your career aspirations on 13/03/25. Appointments with CV reviewers and career coaches are now open. Don't wait and secure your spot for an online CV check and/or an online speed career coaching session on 13/03/25.

Most modules on education are organized in a demand-driven way which means that instructors/professors can 'order' a tailor-made workshop on a specific topic for a specific group of interested people. However, they also have a limited open course offer. These open courses can be found online.

2. Research data management (RDM)

All UHasselt researchers are expected to adhere to the UHasselt RDM policy plan and manage their data efficiently and with integrity. The RDM team can give you advice on data management planning, policies, best practices, tools, etc. You can contact them directly with your questions and/or follow one or more of their trainings. 3. HR Department

Hasselt University encourages personal growth and development among its staff by offering a wide range of training courses and career support. This offer is also open to all PhD researchers and postdoctoral researchers.

4. School of Expert Education (SEE)

Training for professionals, built on academic expertise with the aim of creating a unique learning environment to refine and broaden your expertise. You can find their course offer here (courses are mostly in Dutch).

5. Flanders’ training network for methodology and statistics (FLAMES)

Courses on statistics and methodology, which take place throughout the academic year at all Flemish universities. The FLAMES summer school and courses organized at Hasselt University are listed in this newsletter; the others can be found on the FLAMES website.

6. Interuniversity course offer for young researchers

The doctoral schools of Hasselt University partner with the other four Flemish universities which results in an interuniversity course offer open for young researchers of the five partner universities.

7. EURECA-PRO

The EURECA-PRO Alliance consists of 9 partners who joined forces to enable students, researchers and staff to study, teach and research in the field of responsible consumption and production with the long-term goal of a joined virtual and integrated European campus until 2040. They also organize regular activities for (young) researchers.
