1. Coaching for growth

Why is learning through self-discovery more effective than being given the solution directly? This two-day coaching workshop on February 26 and 27, 2024 hosted by Dr. Robin Lefèbvre (Grow2Excel) advocates for a non-directive coaching style, aiming to enhance your personal toolset and empower you to help others grow independently. Differentiating between leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring is crucial, as coaching is not a rigid technique but a holistic approach to management and personal development. As a leader, your dual responsibilities include delivering results and fostering the growth of your team. Employing various directive and non-directive techniques, such as the T-GROW model (Topic - Goal - Reality - Options – What), as highlighted in this workshop, can effectively achieve immediate results in coaching sessions.

Ready to take your leadership to the next level? Join us for this insightful workshop and equip yourself with the tools needed to make a lasting impact on both your personal and professional spheres. Don't miss out on this opportunity! For more information and to secure your spot, visit our website for additional details and easy online registration. Elevate your coaching skills and empower others to grow – register today!

2. Company visit Jaga

Hasselt University and Voka – KvK Limburg join forces by organising a company visit during which researchers are given the unique opportunity to discover the ins and outs of a company.  The upcoming company is JAGA, located in Diepenbeek and focusing on innovation, environment and creativity. Their products are designed to be used in combination with environmentally friendly energy sources. One of Jaga’s main objectives is to continue to develop and work for a better indoor and outdoor climate. Take a look at this video for more information and inspiration! The visit will take place on January 18, 2024 - 10:00-13:00. During lunch, you will have the opportunity to speak with different profiles within the organisation.
More information and registration (deadline: January 10, 2024) can be found here.

3. Interuniversity job market for young researchers - Save the date

After four successful editions the 5 Flemish universities again organise an interuniversity job market for young researchers. The 2024 edition will open its physical doors in Ghent (Flanders Expo) on March 28, 2024 (12:00-18:00). The live job fair will be preceded by a diversified online programme (between February 8 and March 12, 2024). Detailed information will follow soon. Registration will be possible as of February 1, 2024.

4. Online CV analysis training

As part of the above mentioned Interuniversity Job Market for Young Researchers, VDAB, Flanders’ public employment agency, is conducting a training course on CV analysis. This course aims to introduce PhD candidates and postdocs to the art of crafting effective CV's, providing essential tips to showcase their unique blend of competentces and experiences successfully. The training sessions will be conducted online from 17:30-19:30 on February 08 and 20 and March 05, 2024. The goal of these sessions is to empower participants to gain confidence in their CV writing skills to the extent that they can not only review their own CV, but also those of their peers. Subsequently, participants are expected to engage in an online CV analysis session as CV coaches on March 12, 2024, between 12:00 and 18:00, in the run-up to the live Job Market for Young Researchers.

If you are interested in participating, please send your CV and a brief motivation statement to katrien.degelder@ugent.be by February 01, 2024 at the latest. Given the limited availability of spots, be sure to secure your place promptly!
