This newsletter provides an overview of all upcoming activities, either organized specifically for postdocs or for postdocs and PhD students combined, and links to other potentially interesting events or information.

1. DS courses with short deadlines:

  • Infosession on intellectual property rights BEW & SES (DS BSH) - 20/03/25 - 09:00-10:30

  • Academic English (DS HLS & DS ST) - 4 sessions in February-March 2025 - 13:00-16:00

Elevate your academic communication skills with the 'Academic English' course, designed for PhD students of the DS HLS (PhD students of the DS ST are more than welcome as well!) who are eager to master the art of scientific writing and presentation. Guided by Prof. Eric Caers and Ms. Eva Cordery, this engaging program provides hands-on sessions that explore academic writing conventions, reader-friendly techniques and effective presentation strategies. With personalized feedback and practical tools tailored to your research field, this course will equip you to confidently convey complex scientific ideas with precision and clarity. 2. Online career lunches

In the run-up to the live interuniversity job market for young researchers (Flanders Expo Ghent, 27/03/25 - 12:00-19:00), online career lunches are hosted every Tuesday and Thursday between 06/02 and 20/03/25.
Between 12:00 and 13:00, companies such as Moore, Johnson & Johnson, Boston Consulting Group and many others will introduce themselves and will happily answer any questions you may have. Please find a preliminary overview of the career lunches and all registration links on this page.

3. Let's Talk Science, a taste of science communication - save the date: 01-03/07/25

Want to get a taste of the world of science communication? This three-day event is all about communicative competences consisting of a plenary session and a maximum of 2 workshops. The plenary session will be attended by researchers from all over Flanders, inviting them to share ideas and experiences. The workshops give you the opportunity to gain skills such as presentation and interviewing techniques, making posters or writing for non-experts. This year's edition will be hosted at KU Leuven.

2. Research data management (RDM)

All UHasselt researchers are expected to adhere to the UHasselt RDM policy plan and manage their data efficiently and with integrity. The RDM team can give you advice on data management planning, policies, best practices, tools, etc. You can contact them directly with your questions and/or follow one or more of their trainings. 3. HR Department

Hasselt University encourages personal growth and development among its staff by offering a wide range of training courses and career support. This offer is also open to all PhD researchers and postdoctoral researchers.

4. School of Expert Education (SEE)

Training for professionals, built on academic expertise with the aim of creating a unique learning environment to refine and broaden your expertise. You can find their course offer here (courses are mostly in Dutch).

5. Flanders’ training network for methodology and statistics (FLAMES)

Courses on statistics and methodology, which take place throughout the academic year at all Flemish universities. The FLAMES summer school and courses organized at Hasselt University are listed in this newsletter; the others can be found on the FLAMES website.

6. Interuniversity course offer for young researchers

The doctoral schools of Hasselt University partner with the other four Flemish universities which results in an interuniversity course offer open for young researchers of the five partner universities.

7. EURECA-PRO

The EURECA-PRO Alliance consists of 9 partners who joined forces to enable students, researchers and staff to study, teach and research in the field of responsible consumption and production with the long-term goal of a joined virtual and integrated European campus until 2040. They also organize regular activities for (young) researchers.

8. Pitch Please
