What?
A call for fundamental research with clinical translation in the field of the mechanisms of pediatric cancers.
The aim is to improve the understanding of pediatric tumor biology, including (but not limited to) studies on genetic change, signaling pathways, the tumor microenvironment. The project should include clear perspectives for applications in medicine.
A budget of € 170.000 is available and will be awarded to one research project.
Selection criteria
- Scientific quality of the project
- Relevance/added value of the research to existing knowledge /clinical practices
- Involvement of stakeholders
- Potential of the main applicant and research team
- Potential impact
- Perspective of implementation of the results
- Dissemination of the study results
- Justification of the budget
- Ethical questions & gender issues
Who?
The call is open to young post-doctoral researchers (maximum 8 years of active research activities (with an additional time for documented career break) following their PhD thesis public defense), working full-time or part-time (at least 50%) within a university or research center in Belgium and collaborating with clinic researchers. Collaboration between teams in Belgium is encouraged. Projects that involve collaboration with international research teams must be new and initiated and coordinated by the team based in Belgium.
