Steel-based applications in earthquake-prone areas. (Research)

Steel-earth is born on the needs to develop practical tools and documents to exploit results obtained in 3 previous RFCS (European Research Fund for Coal and Steel) research projects: Opus, Steelretro and Precasteel. Aforementioned projects aimed at improving earthquake resisting steel structural solutions in different fields: the design of new constructions, the rehabilitation of existing structures and the modern design standards. Steel-earth is the first valorisation project financed by RFCS on earthquake engineering and summarises the efforts of the last years aiming at the development of enhanced constructive, design and pre-normative solutions. The proposed dissemination activities are of paramount importance to guarantee the transfer of the obtained results into the current design practice and standards.
