Title
Modelling the impact of combining HIV prevention interventions on HIV incidence in fishing communities in Uganda (Research)
Abstract
The HIV epidemic in Uganda is generalized and is driven by several factors. Fishing communities, who are among the most at risk populations (MARPs) are believed to serve as reservoirs of infection for the general population. Adult HIV incidence in Ugandan fishing communities is estimated at 4.5 per 100 person years; five times higher than the national average. This work is part of the MRC/UVRI pilot study of HIV combination prevention (HIVCOMB) where we aim to assess the effect of combination prevention on HIV incidence using mathematical modelling.
