Establishing a 'LIVE LAB' platform for 'project-based learning' with integration of an interfaculty 'Design & Build' studio (Education)

'Project-based learning' is quite common and much-praised within design- and construction-related programs in academic higher education. The purpose of this IOP (innovative education project) is the establishment of a 'LIVE LAB' platform that facilitates and optimizes this teaching method. To that end, an operational structure with scenario will be developed, existing of a combination of and interaction between the existing learning-/working-methods 'Design Studio Projects' and 'Live Projects', supplemented by new interfaculty 'Design & Build Projects'. This 'LIVE LAB' is innovating through the combination of three existing learning-/working-methods for 'project-based learning', a sustainable involvement of participants and an interfaculty collaboration. In addition, it will connect teaching employability skills to social engagement and it will strengthen the interaction between education and research.
