Title
Subcontracting agreement with a2o architects for specifications TZ / 18026 for City of Aarschot (Research)
Abstract
The city of Aarschot has been working since 2004 on the step-by-step implementation of a strategic vision for urban renewal. After the realization of 's Hertogenmills and' Aarschot on the Tracks', 'De Torens' is an important milestone in this. This new project focuses on the renewed connection between the Orlean tower and the center. This connection transcends the concept of a purely infrastructural intervention that connects two points. 'De Torens' is about a social project and trajectory that responds to the collective memory of the Aarschot tenant, which interweaves the city with its hinterland, that offers an innovative view of urban living and that ultimately restores a forgotten monument as a fully-fledged anchorage. In the coming years, various partners put their shoulders to the wheel on this innovative urban project. In this way, future perspectives for an important next step in a tradition of urban renewal are worked out step by step and in close consultation with the city and its residents. Uhasselt provides the participatory trajectory in which they, together with the Aarschot tenant, look for a future layout of the area around the Orléans tower. Together we try to (re) discover the qualities of the place and develop a supported vision for the place with the neighborhood, local education, and community life. We also translate this vision into a concrete realization. To realize these ambitions, we are setting up a 'workplace' in the short term. In the heart of the city we start working with the city. In an open studio we investigate step by step and in close consultation with all stakeholders the possibilities and potential of the project. From this studio, the project is gradually taking shape and we are working on the future realization of the project.
