Project R-9808

Title

Smart online tool to quantify training load within football (and other sports) and optimize the training process (Research)

Abstract

Within the framework of a spear-head project (PWO) of the PXL University of the expertise centres Educational Innovation and Smart ICT, an online tool was developed that helps football coaches (1) to get an accurate picture of the physical and mental readiness of the players before training and (2) to better assess the subjective internal exercise load of the players after the training, in order to differentiate an individualise more in this way. The tool is not only designed to avoid strain injuries, but also to improve performances. Furthermore, coaches are encouraged to plan the duration and intensity of training in a well-considered way and to offer the right training stimuli at the right time. We want to teach coaches to treat the data critically and to think about the possibilities to differentiate and individualize in order to guarantee an optimal training process with the best possible performance. We want to focus on COACHING COACHES to train and guide (less experienced) coaches to create more customized trainings and to individualize and differentiate more within their trainings. Within the IOF-CONCEPT funding, an external expert will be consulted to find out what the market potential of the tool is and how it can be put on the market. First and foremost, a market analysis will be carried out to identify the size of the sales market, the price setting/willingness to pay, the potential (valorisation) partners. Also, after evaluation of different business models, feasibility and strategic roadmap will be determined resulting in a fully elaborated business plan.
