Project R-12693

Title

Innovative dealing with aggression (Research)

Abstract

The theme "dealing with aggression in the workplace" is, as in many service sectors (such as: retail, catering, public sector including police and justice, mutual health services, trade unions, etc.), also an important point of attention for the care sector. Many healthcare organizations are therefore investing in training and educating their staff to deal effectively with aggression in the workplace. However, it has been found that these training courses are often too general in scope, not very flexible in time and rather location-specific. In other words, there is a need for a new service that takes these variables into account. The objective of this project is to better arm employees against aggression in the workplace, thereby increasing their well-being at work and preventing them from leaving the sector, and this through the use of "Technology Enhanced Learning" (TEL) applications. The new service to be developed with a TEL application must 1/ Enable a customized approach with strong context and time flexibility. The technology used should be able to enable training at any time (anytime) and within various contexts (anywhere), possibly coupled with a learning curve for the (future) employees; 2/ make real situations of aggression visible and 'experienceable'; 3/ be challenging, innovative and attractive as a form of work, also as an inspiration for other service sectors; 4/ represent a cost saving on the annual training efforts of the (care) organizations.
