Title
Embodied learning in an adolescent's educational context: classroomdesign and cognition. (Research)
Abstract
The current educational system consists of various forms of education:teacher-centered education (the teacher teaches) and studentcentered education (the teacher coaches and the student is actively involved in the lesson). Student-centered education has recently been on the rise. Accordingly, one application is called embodied learning, meaning that body and brain work together during the learning process of a subject matter. Embodied learning seemed to be effective in primary school children in terms of executive functions, well-being and academic performance. Current research investigates the possible positive effects of embodied learning on the general health, executive functions, well-being and learning outcomes of adolescents in a classroom context. In addition, the importance of an optimal classroom design for embodied learning is examined. Current research contributes to gaining insight into a new student-centered education form that may benefit the learning process in adolescents.
