Title
Ex Machina (Research)
Abstract
This project entails a feasibility study for the valorization of a (software) framework for the construction of mobile guides, initially targeted toward the cultural sector. More specifically, the framework facilitates the creation of mobile applications that enrich the visitor experience and offer a pleasant, social, surprising and personally useful experience. By immersing the visitors in the stories that a certain cultural institution wants to convey and by stimulating them to interact with other visitors as well as with their physical surroundings, we want to increase the satisfaction of visitors and even raise their desire to visit the specific institution again or to visit other similar sites and museums. For the realization of the mobile ICT application, the Expertise Centre for Digital Media (EDM), has developed a software framework during several applied research projects funded by local, regional as well as European governments. This software framework enables the development of mobile guides for specific institutions in a flexible and client-centered manner taking into account their particular needs. In order to effectively estimate the most appropriate valorization strategy, an in-depth market study will be carried out in this project.
