Title

The investment behaviour of business families (Research)

Abstract

Family businesses are considered as the backbone of our economy because of their contribution to job creation, innovation and economic growth. These businesses are expected to employ a peculiar investment behaviour, because of the overlap of the business and the family system – which causes them to pursue both economic and noneconomic goals. The investment function is increasingly being entrusted to a family office that manages the business family's assets. The family office can also provide further asset management once the family business is sold. Consequently, this research will focus on the role of the family office in the investment behaviour of business families.
