Project R-14936

Title

Live cell monitoring platform (LCMP) (Research)

Abstract

BIOMED is a multidisciplinary institute that uses high-end technology to deliver novel insights in three main disease areas: immunology, neuroscience and cardiovascular disease. In this proposal, we wish to expand his core facility with complementary infrastructure which allows to evaluate cells, their metabolism and their behavior in a fast, real-time (i.e. in living cells) and high throughput manner, enabling to perform multiple experiments simultaneously. The requested infrastructure can be used for a plethora of experiments, ranging from measuring cell metabolism, cell barriers, migration, proliferation, phagocytosis, neurite outgrowth and organoid formation. The versatility of the equipment warrants that various research groups will benefit from this platform. The LCMP will serve as a flagship platform which will fortify the position of BIOMED, UHasselt as a strong innovative research institute in the Euregio and will attract the interest of industrial collaborators.
