Title
Person-centered rehabilitation from a marketing perspective (Research)
Abstract
Person Centeredness (PEC) in healthcare implies being responsive to a person's unique wishes and needs. It acknowledges that each patient should be recognized as a unique human being with unique wishes and needs. This uniqueness is not limited to the patient as an ill person, but PEC focuses on the uniqueness of the whole person. Although rehabilitation services and providers recognize PEC as an integral part of the quality of rehabilitation care, the transition to PEC is challenging since healthcare providers have a long tradition of focusing on the disease instead of on the person's unique needs and wants. Insights from marketing may facilitate this transition, since it has a long tradition of being responsive to people's unique wishes and needs. This research collaboration aims to integrate expertise in marketing and rehabilitation sciences to investigate PEC in rehabilitation.
