Innovative traffic models and generative AI for sustainable mobility transition and improved traffic safety (Research)

This project focuses on developing advanced traffic models, and a generative AI module for the citizen participation platform Citizens4Safety, aiming to enhance sustainable mobility and traffic safety. By developing a site-specific, activity-based, microscopic simulation model, the impact of various policy scenarios on business- and educational sites can be precisely analyzed. The new microsimulation model will be tested and validated with Hasselt University as a case study. The Citizens4Safety platform is optimized by incorporating generative AI (LLM/language models) to provide local governments with powerful, user-friendly decision support, i.a. for the processing of citizen reports on traffic safety. This model will be tested in three municipalities in Limburg.
