Title
Cellular Senescence: an Underestimated Player in the
Pathology of MS. (Research)
Abstract
Cellular senescence, characterized by an inflammatory secretome, is increasingly being acknowledged to drive disease
progression in age-related diseases such as Alzheimer's. Building upon promising preliminary findings, we hypothesize
that senescence also underpins immune dysfunction and disease progression in MS. Using innovative state-of-the-art
techniques, preclinical models, and unique MS brain samples, we aim to assess cellular senescence in the context of
divergent lesion subtypes and disease stages and identify senolytics as a therapeutic tool to counter cellular senescence
and disease progression in MS.
