Title

Computationally efficient numerical methods for particle tracking at the LHC (Research)

Abstract

At the large hadron collider at CERN, particles are accelerated and brought to collide with a very high energy. This generates huge amounts of data on the position and trajectories of the produced particles. This data has to be analyzed in great detail, making use of suitable mathematical algorithms. The algorithms have to be very accurate, to correctly interpret the experiments, and efficient, so that data can be interpreted at real time. In this project, we develop novel mathematical ideas and algorithms for this purpose that can be run on future quantum computing infrastructures.
