From Train-the-Trainer to Build-the-Network: establishing the Philippine Citizen Science Network for Environmental Monitoring. (Education)

The project aims to train Philippine educators and researchers in sustainability practices within environmental citizen science and integrate these efforts into the "Philippine Citizen Science Network." This initiative is connected to the ongoing ITP project "Co-CiPhil" (2023–2025), which organizes capacity-building workshops on interdisciplinary methodologies in environmental citizen science. A multi-day workshop on sustainable citizen science and a multi-day conference will be organized in the Philippines to formally establish the Philippine Citizen Science Network, its scientific committee, and five-year goals. The event will expand collaboration between UHasselt, Central Luzon State University, Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology, and Visayas State University, extending the network into northern Philippines. Trainees will learn how to implement sustainability practices in their citizen science projects.
