Abstract

The role of art in socio-environmental transitions, Webinar How can organizations use art as an approach to contribute to shared understanding and action around socio-ecological transitions, and this with the most diverse actors possible? Between March 2022 and October 2023, on behalf of the Art in Commission platform, Uhasselt actively entered into relationships with clients who work with nature, water, landscape or roads and are therefore important players in realizing socio-ecological transitions. The report 'The Art of mediating between people and the environment, the role of Commissioned Art in socio-ecological transitions', which emerged from this process, offers some critical lessons and suggestions. With a follow-up process in the form of a webinar, the methodologies and insights we gained from the report can be passed on to a broader audience in a short period of time and in an interactive manner. Our focus is on the use of the report within the VLM (Flemish Land Agency), but we will also provide the opportunity to move on to more general principles that apply to other organizations. However, these broader applications will be clearly framed to ensure relevance and applicability. Our goal is to support VLM colleagues from different levels in integrating this new knowledge and skills.
