Project R-15321

Title

Process Data Analyst: From novice to expert (Research)

Abstract

Knowledge about the exploratory process data analysis is essential, as it is an open-ended data analysis task, blending part skills and part art. Although novices and experts both engage in this task, clear distinctions can be observed between their approaches. Focusing on these distinctions, this project aims to explore the differences in the internal models employed by novice and expert process analysts during exploratory process mining tasks. Key to this research is understanding how technology can facilitate an efficient transition from novice to expert by enhancing the development of the analyst's mental model. Accordingly, this study will help inform the creation of tools and techniques for the effective evolution of process data analysis skills.
