Implementation database adapted transportation (Research)

Transportation is one of the basic needs to develop a social life. Everybody has a right to participate in social life and thus has the right to basic transportation. In practice this does not apply to everyone. People with a handicap or elderly people are often not very mobile. Nevertheless, this day there are numerous initiatives concerning adjusted door-to-door transportation and accessible public transport. However, people with limitations who whish to use these services need to know they exist. The problem today is that every transport provider provides for his own dissemination of information. Therefor, someone with a mobility limitation does not have the luxury to plan a trip using a route planner. People with limitations have a strong need for detailed and unambiguous information that is offered in a user-friendly way. Furthermore it is of great importance that the information that is offered is reliable. Finally it is desirable that the transport applicant is guided as good as possible in choosing the for him/her most adequate transportation mode and transporation provider that is linked with it. From this point of view the goal of this project is to further develop and implement the database adapted transportation in Flanders.
