Project R-2373

Title

Longitudinal methods for complex interactions in elderly populations. (Research)

Abstract

Motivated by applications in the health-related behavioral and social sciences, the proposed project represents a unique and strategic collaboration between clinical scientists, behavioral and social science (BSS) researchers, and methodological experts. This diverse group of applied researchers will extend existing longitudinal analysis methods in order to focus on models for complex interactions and dynamic patterns of risk that have relevance to health-related research, particularly research on disease and disability processes in aging populations. This proposal is a direct response to the program announcement Methodology and Measurement in Behavioral and Social Sciences (PA-07-060), and the several selected components of this initiative (described below) represent a significant effort to advance the existing analytic methods for handling longitudinal data to a new level of utility for BSS researchers.
