Title
Exploration of single phase layered perovskites as candidate magnetoelectrics (Research)
Abstract
Magnetoelectric multiferroic materials are interesting in view of their specific properties, viz. ferroelectricity, ferromagnetism and a coupling between both. However, these properties mostly arise at very low temperatures, making these materials unsuitable for applications. Therefore, recent investigations focus on mechanisms and materials that would allow for room temperature operation. In this project, the synthesis of powders and (epitaxial) films of suggested materials via solution-gel methods, chemical solution deposition and hydrothermal epitaxy is examined.
