Title
Medical collaborative visualization (Research)
Abstract
Over the last decades, healthcare has become increasingly complex due to the ever-increasing amount of medical knowledge that is available for diagnosis or treatment. This has led to greater degrees of (sub)-specialization in the different clinical domains and the associated need for intense multidisciplinary collaboration, guided by the multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings. The efficiency of these meeting, however, is not always optimal due to lack of data availability, remote collaboration and appropriate data visualization. It has been stated that the use of communication technology is likely able to overcome some of the issues associated with MDT meetings. However, very limited options are currently available for this technological support. In this project, we aim to develop an environment for local and remote multidisciplinary medical collaboration that provides easy and intuitive access to multimodal data and its visual interpretation in MDT meetings. We aim for a minimal disruption of the currently used workflows and clinical practice and will investigate a solution that is lightweight and broadly applicable.
