What?

Numerous Nobel Laureates gather annually in Lindau to meet the next generation of leading scientists. The Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings have promoted this opportunity for contact between top scientists across generations, cultures, and disciplines since 1951.

For the 74th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting, hosted from 29 June to 4 July 2025, Nobel Laureates in Chemistry are invited. About 600 exceptionally talented young researchers will be invited to join them in small-group lectures, panel discussions and debates. 

Per participating candidate, FWO will pay the travel costs there and back plus a fixed amount of €2,500, intended for (among others) accommodation in Lindau and (part of) the total participation costs; the rest of the total amount will be supplemented by the Lindau Foundation itself and 3rd-party funding.

Who?

Participants will be selected from students (Bachelor and Master), PhD students and young postdoctoral researchers worldwide in the field of chemistry and closely related disciplines.

Since 2015, FWO has been an ‘Academic Partner’ of the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, and FWO can nominate up to 5 candidates this year. The nominated candidates then undergo another selection process by the Lindau Council's Review Panel for the final selection of candidates to be admitted to the 2025 meeting.

Application?

Candidates are requested to send a dossier to interprog@fwo.be, in English, with a full CV (incl. publication list), a motivation letter and two letters of recommendation by their supervisors, scientific advisers and/or leading scientists who know the candidate well (approximately one A4 page long each).

The deadline for this is Wednesday, 18 September 2024. FWO, as an academic partner of the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, will select a maximum of 5 candidates on the basis of these files. Selected candidates must then officially apply to the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting, after which a Review Panel appointed by the Lindau Council will make the final selection for the Meeting participants.
