VLAIO TETRA 2024-2025

Research

Funding organisation:

Agentschap Innoveren en Ondernemen

What?

The TETRA program aims at research groups that are actively engaged in practice-oriented research. The TETRA program carries out short-term projects that translate available (academic) knowledge into validated and directly usable concepts or prototypes that respond to the needs of a large group of companies (SMEs) and/or non-profit organizations, or which represent new market opportunities for them. The results are aimed at economic valorization. In addition, the results can also be used to address a societal challenge. By offering new knowledge in a form adapted to their capabilities, the TETRA program helps Flemish companies and non-profit organizations, which are not actively engaged in research, to innovate. Through the integration of the TETRA projects in the training courses at the colleges and the integrated courses at universities, innovation is also taking place here. Through this way, the necessary competencies are also provided for the outflow of graduates to the labor market.

This call is open to all topics. However special attention is requested for the Flanders AI Research Program and the Flanders Cyber Security Research Program.

A TETRA project takes two years and has a budget of at least €100,000 and at most €480,000. The grant amounts to 92,5 percent of the project's accepted budget. The remaining 7,5 percent must be financed with contributions from the target group companies. To this end, a comprehensive co-financing plan must be submitted showing the commitment of the effective target group.

Changes to the previous call:

  • complete co-financing (80% committed)
  • Maximum 30% of the co-financing amount may come from ‘in kind’ contributions;
  • frequency guidance group: at least 2/year.

Who?

Applications for a TETRA project can only be made by research groups of a Flemish higher education institution who are actively engaged in practice-based research. There is a demonstrable relationship and knowledge flow from the project to course(s) at the college, respectively integrated program(s) at the university. For up to 1/3 of the budget, applicants may appeal to other research organizations or research groups where there is no flow of knowledge.

The above mentioned organizations can act independently as a project applicant or can apply as a partnership. Every applicant must fulfill the criteria set in the European definition of "Organisatie voor Onderzoek en Kennisverspreiding" and must add an attestation to the proposal.

Application?

The application must be registered via the online portal of VLAIO. After registration with your eID you receive (as main applicant) a link to your application to complete the proposal and to upload all necessary supporting documents.

Please note that after submitting a part of the proposal, the data in this proposal cannot be modified anymore. Make sure that before submitting all parts that the budget is final and that everything in the online portal is consistent with the content of the completed templates.

Only OBI is allowed to submit the part for the "kennisinstelling", as they have a mandate to do so. Do note that every institution or company that is part of the consortium must submit their own part, and this must be done by their legal representative (or someone who has a signed mandate to do so).

More information on the submission procedure can be found on the VLAIO website
