What?
The AstraZeneca Foundation attaches great importance to promoting scientific research. On the initiative of the AstraZeneca Foundation, the FWO and F.R.S.-FNRS will give in 2025 a scientific award in recognition of innovative scientific research leading to
novel approaches of early detection and prevention of non-communicable diseases.
- Prize amounting to 25,000 EURO.
- Rewards innovative scientific research on strategies or methodologies that improve early diagnosis and prevention of non-communicable diseases. It encompasses innovative screening methods, risk assessment tools, and preventive interventions that can mitigate the impact of non-communicable diseases such as (but not limited to) diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular disorders.
- The prize is intended to reward an established investigator on the basis of his/her previous work, with a perspective of future development in the same field.
Who?
- You have a PhD.
- The applicant must have obtained his/her first PhD degree maximum 15 years before the date of the sumbission deadline (possible extended in case of eligible career breaks, see regulations).
- The prize can only be given to an individual scientist from postdoctoral level onwards who is affiliated to a Belgian university or university hospital. Prior to the submission deadline, the applicant must have held a research position in Belgium for at least five years (in a consecutive or cumulated period).
Application?
- Submit your candidacy using the appropriate form (which you can find on the FWO website), filled in correctly and completely (in English), on 9 June 2025 midnight at the latest.
- Your candidacy is submitted to a jury.
- The jury selects the laureate for the prize.
