Global Minds incoming travel grants

What is an incoming travel grant?

Students from the 29 scholarship countries can apply for a travel grant. This grant provides limited financial support for an internship or a research stay in Belgium, at Hasselt University.

A travel grant provides limited financial support for a study stay or research at Hasselt University. Preferably, the stay is recognised as a study component and therefore awarded with study credits (e.g. as a work placement /internship or a thesis).

The study stay:

  • takes place in collaboration with a promoter of Hasselt University.
    • takes place within the university or one of its partners such as a hospital, local government, NGO, local enterprise with social purpose, association,...
    • if the internship doesn’t take place at the university, it needs to be clarified how collaboration with the university is enhanced and exchange with local students will be realised.
  • lasts at least 1 month (there is funding for one month, if the internship takes longer, then co-funding is needed).
  • is supervised by a supervisor at the UHasselt and one in the home country.
  • allows for the realisation of study goals, personal development and the acquisition of global citizenship skills but equally important is that the UHasselt and the home organisation in the partner country clearly benefits from the student's work.
  • The application has to be submitted at least 4 months before your planned trip.

Who can receive a travel grant?

Any student (bachelor or master) who is enrolled in an university or university college in one of the 29 partner countries studying with a diploma contract, can apply for a incoming travel grant.
