Content

If you are a new user of COMSOL Multiphysics® and a student or staff member of Hasselt University, then this web workshop is for you! You will learn how to simulate real-world designs, devices, and processes with multiphysics software from COMSOL®.

The event is suitable for anyone interested in using COMSOL Multiphysics® for the mathematical modeling of physics phenomena such as heat transfer, transport phenomena, fluid dynamics, electromagnetics, photonics, structural mechanics, and acoustics. No previous experience with the software is required.

By considering a variety of models, we will bring out points to help you get the most out of each step in the modeling process. In particular, we will consider:

  • The COMSOL Multiphysics® GUI
  • Geometry modeling and mesh generation
  • Physics conditions and couplings
  • Various study types
  • Postprocessing options
  • Building multiphysics applications

Based on time and the interests of the participants, some or all of the above topics will be considered.

Competences

An important part of preparing for any further professional step is becoming (more) aware of the competences you have developed and/or want to develop. In the current workshop, the following competences from the UHasselt competency overview are actively dealt with:

  • academic research competences:
    • information management
    • valorisation
    • research methods
  • intellectual competences
    • problem solving
  • task-orientedness:
    • project planning
