In this workshop by Luk Cox and Idoya Lahortiga (somersault 18:24) you will learn to design a quality figure for your publication, PhD thesis or presentation, with hands-on practices and real-world examples. We will demystify many of the most common pitfalls and problems and give you some good practices that will avoid problems down the road. This course also includes a comprehensive overview of the ethics of image editing to assure scientific integrity at all times. The following topics will be dealt with during the workshop:
Please note: all examples and recommendations in the workshop mainly come from the disciplines Life Sciences, Physics and Chemistry. However the focus of the workshop is on teaching 'principles' that can also be applied in other disciplines. In that case participants might have to make a bigger leap to extend the analogy to their work.

For the workshop, all participants need Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. If you don't have these installed yet, please follow the steps below to install the necessary Adobe Creative Cloud software on your laptop. This will ensure you’re ready to participate fully in the session.
