This course is a part of the PhD efficiency week 2024 (25/03/24 - 29/03/24) organized by for PhD students of the Faculty of Law. Other courses included in this trajectory are:

Part 1: Story

The participants will receive information on how to clearly explain the core of your qualitative research (story / pitch) and will apply it on their own research.

  • How to compose a pitch?
  • How to adapt your story to the audience?

Part 2: Scientific poster

The principles of the design of a scientific poster will be highlighted and applied to the academic context in which the participants will find themselves.

  • Infographics & sketch
  • Think like a designer
  • Criteria of a comprehensible poster
  • Analyzing of some examples 

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, participants will be:

  • be able to explain their own research with a short pitch,
  • be aware of the necessity to adapt his/her story to the needs of the audience,
  • know about how to design a scientific poster in powerpoint,
  • be able to present the research in a schematic way.

An important part of preparing for any further professional step is becoming (more) aware of the competences you have developed and/or want to develop. In the current workshop, the following competences from the UHasselt competency overview are actively dealt with:
