This training by prof. Wim Pinxten will introduce you to the cornerstones of research ethics and provide tips and tricks for handling ethical issues in the preparation of a research protocol and actual research practice. The info session will focus on the major frameworks which are applicable for PhD students within the doctoral school of Health & Life Sciences (H&LS).

Learning outcomes

At the end of this session, participants...

  • will be aware about the major frameworks that guide the ethical assessment of research
  • will have basic skills in addressing ethical issues in research protocols and research practice.

Competences

An important part of preparing for any further professional step is becoming (more) aware of the competences you have developed and/or want to develop. In the current session, the following competences from the UHasselt competency overview are actively dealt with:

  • personal effectiveness:

  • intellectual competences:
    • critical judgement
  • academic research competences:
    • research methods

  • PhD students from the doctoral school of H&LS

When?

  • The session will take place on March 13, 2025 - 10:00-12:00.

Where?

  • The session will take place at Campus Diepenbeek, Building D, room A54.

Registration?

  • Registrations are closed as from February 12, 2025.
  • As places are limited, registering does not automatically imply that you will be able to participate. You will be notified by email in due time.
  • Please cancel your registration at least one week in advance in case you cannot make it (cfr. cancellation & no-show policy).
