Content

When a friend asks you to explain your research topic you get lost for words, you start to notice that your body blocks and on top of that you seem to lose the interest of your friend. Sounds familiar? If so, you are invited to explore the world of pitching and public speaking during a two-day workshop by Jelle de Wit. During the first day the trainer will guide you into the world of Pitching & Public Speaking with a presentation & practical exercises. On the second day you will have the opportunity to give a short pitch for the trainer and other participants of the workshop.

By using an 8-step framework you will be able to convince people to fall in love with your ideas. Having the knowledge of a pitching structure will furthermore deepen your presentation skills. You will also get the opportunity to explore your public speaking skills by using your body as a tool to support your presentation.

“The right word may be effective, but no word was ever as effective as a rightly timed pause.” – Mark Twain

Learning outcomes

After having attended this workshop, participants will:

  • know how to pitch their research by means of an 8-step theoretical framework,
  • know how to use verbal and nonverbal language to support their pitch,
  • know how to bring a clear, personal and convincing message.

Competences

An important part of preparing for any further professional step is becoming (more) aware of the competences you have developed and/or want to develop. In the current workshop, the following competences from the UHasselt competency overview are actively dealt with:

    • presentation skills
