Train or combi-pass

As a UHasselt student, you can apply for a contribution of 50% on a train- or combipass of 3 or 12 months in 2nd class for the route from home to campus.

As a student younger than 26, you receive a 50% discount when buying a subscription for a train- or combi pass from the NMBS.

Now, how does this work?

  1. From the moment that you are registered as a student, you can go to your digital student file and navigate to > registration for. Here you can fill in your information for a train- or combi-railpass.
  2. Afterwards (this can take a couple of working days), you receive a certificate from the NMBS that you will need when buying the train- or combi pass at the NMBS station.
  3. With the link on that certificate you can apply for your season ticket digitally. You get the discount immediately, so you don’t have to do anything else after this.

Please note! If you are a student above 26 years old, you still have the right to receive a contribution of 50%, but the process of applying is different. Here applies the same process as for a bus pass subscription. You first buy the train pass at NMBS and afterwards, you can demand the contribution. You can find the application form for this contribution in your digital student file (student supplies > forms).

Bus Pass

As a UHasselt student, you receive a contribution of 50% for your bus pass of 3 or 12 months.

Process:

  1. Buy your bus pass at De Lijn.
  2. Download the application form from your digital student file > student supplies > forms.
  3. Mail the application form and the subscription from De Lijn (with your name, price and period of the bus pass) to vervoer@uhasselt.be or present these documents to someone at the student desk in Diepenbeek or Hasselt.

Campuspas

Do you only use the bus in Hasselt and Diepenbeek? Then the best option for you is to buy the campuspas. For only 20 euros per year, you can use the bus in Hasselt and Diepenbeek unlimited. Check beforehand if your bus stop lies within the radius (pdf, 63 KB) of the campuspas. The campuspas is valid from September 15 until September 14 the next year.

How to apply for a campuspas:

  1. Make sure you have a MOBIB-card. You can buy an empty MOBIB-card at De Lijn for 6 euros.
  2. Register yourself via your digital student file for the campus pass (student file > registration for).
  3. Pay 20 euros by bank transfer.
  4. We transfer your information for the campus pass to De Lijn when we have received your payment. De Lijn will then activate the campus pass on your MOBIB-card.

Please note: Make sure you apply and pay timely for your campus pass, since it can take a couple of days before we receive your payment and it can take up to 14 days before your campus pass is activated on your MOBIB-card.

Did you already pay your campuspas but it is not yet activated while you really need it? Get a substitute pass that is valid for 14 days, you can pick it up at the student desk on presentation of your proof of payment.

Car

Carpoolen

You have to use your car to get to campus? Then you can start to Swidg! Register through this link and Swidg will find your perfect carpool match. That way you don't have to drive to campus alone, you can share the costs and you make a sustainable contribution! Win-win-win. More information on how to use the app can be found in the manual.

Carpool parking: As a carpooling student of UHasselt, you can now reserve a parking space in the closed car park next to building E on the Diepenbeek campus - that way you can be sure of your parking spot.

At Trixxo you can park for free from Monday to Friday from 6 am to 10 pm with your student card and get to campus from there using public transport (bus) or bike.

Parking campus Diepenbeek

There are several parking facilities on campus Diepenbeek. On the map below you can find which parking lots are accessible to students. Is it busy on campus? Park your car at the Wetenschapspark parking lot (phase 3). There is plenty of space and from this parking you can walk to the main building D of UHasselt in 10 minutes. As a student, you can also make free use of the new parking tower at the bouw campus on campus Diepenbeek (Wetenschapspark 33, 3590 Diepenbeek).

If you are carpooling with a fellow student, you can reserve a parking space at the carpool parking lot next to building E.

StuRa placed a handy overview (in Dutch) on its website regarding some parking rules (on campus). The actual situation can of course change. Always pay attention to the traffic signs and road markings and park your car according to the rules.
