We have successfully applied with the University MS Centre to become a member of the EHDEN consortium (EHDEN = European Health Data and Evidence Network). EHDEN (more information ehden.eu) is an IMI project ( = innovative medicines initiative), which is one of the various funding channels of the European Commission (more information imi.europa.eu). The ultimate goal of EHDEN is to create a federated data network in Europe that enables the sharing of health data to accelerate the creation of crucial insights. In a federated network, different data sources are connected, but no patient data is exchanged to obtain insights (=privacy-by-design). UHasselt was selected and received a grant to map the MS DataConnect dataset to the OMOP common data model (CDM = a uniform "language" (=structure and format)) (more information via ohdsi.org). Together with edenceHealth (an EHDEN-certified SME), we harmonized the MS DataConnect dataset (which already existed) to OMOP CDM. Therefore, we can now participate in multicenter studies on real-world data.
