Biochar is an ecological alternative to the classic potting soil, it is a new type of soil improver that is made from organic waste.
Researchers at CMK: Centre for Environmental Sciences Hasselt University have been working on biochar together with ILVO. Their biochar is currently being tested in practice in strawberry cultivation at the Fruit Cultivation Pilot Centre in Sint-Truiden.
