Fungi store a third of carbon from fossil fuel emissions and could be essential to reaching net zero

For the first time researchers have calculated how much carbon dioxide (CO²) underground fungi absorb. The findings were published in this article of which CMK-professor Nadia Soudzilovskaia was co-author. The role of mycorrhizal fungi in transporting carbon into soil systems on a global scale remains under-explored and needs further empirical study. More info
