Postdoctoral researcher
After completing his Bachelor's thesis at the DSOS group, during which he worked on the simultaneous efficiency and lifetime improvement of organic photovoltaics by backbone and side-chain engineering, Jochen received his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Hasselt University in 2016. Thereafter he obtained his master’s degree in chemical engineering from the Eindhoven University of Technology in 2018. He conducted his Master's thesis in the Noël research group working on photoredox reactions in Luminescent Solar Concentrator-PhotoMicroreactors (LSC-PMs). As a final part of obtaining his Master’s degree, he did a 5-month internship at CSIRO in Melbourne, Australia. There he worked on RAFT emulsion polymerization under the supervision of Dr. Graeme Moad. Subsequently, he returned to the DSOS group for his Ph.D. on the investigation of novel materials for organic optical cavity devices toward near-infrared photodetection. Currently, he is working as a postdoc in the DSOS group, focusing on the importance of chemical precision for the field of organic electronics.
