Dries Theunissen received his Bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Hasselt University in 2018, with a dissertation on the synthesis of copolymers for bulk heterojunction organic photodetectors in the DSOS group. During his Master's studies at the KU Leuven, where he graduated “Magna Cum Laude”, he performed an internship at the biotech company Galapagos where he helped to fuel the Galapagos pipeline through the synthesis of small molecule drugs. His Master thesis was performed within the group of Prof. W. Dehaen, where he worked on the synthesis of 1,2,3-triazole-fused BOPHY dyes. Currently, he is working on a Ph.D. project in the DSOS group, optimizing organic donor and acceptor materials for indoor photovoltaics.
