Describe yourself in three words:
Logical, Curious, Nature-lover.
This is what I'd liked to become when I grew up:
A Permaculture gardener and a nature/biodiversity researcher.
Fortunately or alas I'm doing this:
The WASP project! Who would have thought that doing a PhD and running an animal 'beauty pageant' could be combined? Unusual and exciting, the World Archives of Species Perception (WASP) project asks people to rate animals based on qualities such as beauty, cuteness or importance for the ecosystem. In my research I will try to unveil the patterns in our perceptions for many animals that are then linked with the current state of their conservation. If you are curious, do check it out on wasp-project.net.
I want to change roles with this colleague for 1 day:
Not to be overly-attached but taking care of penguins for a day sounds pretty cool!
If I could travel back in time, it would be to this event/year:
1 million years ago, really curious to see how nature actually looked back then, but only with safety measures in place.
These daily small things make me happy:
A cup of Vietnamese coffee before work, a clean email inbox, and occasionally chance encounter with an enthusiastic dog.
I'm thrilled when I can eat this:
Vietnamese Pho.
This is my guilty pleasure:
Playing video games and reading Japanese manga.
This was hanging on the wall of my teenage bedroom:
Medieval weapons.
What dream do you still have?
I wish from the bottom of my heart that one day we will finally be able to live in harmony with nature. It is definitely achievable, if everyone is keen to learn how nature works and be mindful of our actions.
