On December 5th we welcome Mechtild Stuhlmacher in the Predikherenkerk in Mechelen.

About Mechthild Stuhlmacher

Mechthild Stuhlmacher was born in Germany, studied music and architecture in Germany and the Netherlands and graduated from the TU Delft.

Before setting up her own studio she worked at several renowned offices in the Netherlands and London such as Mecanoo, Zeinstra vd Pol, Maccreanor Lavington Architects and David Chipperfield Architects. In 2001 she founded the office Korteknie Stuhlmacher Architecten in Rotterdam, together with Rien Korteknie.

She was a member of the editorial team of the OASE architecture magazine between 1995 and 2008. From 2004 to 2008 she worked as an editor on two editions of the Flanders Architecture Yearbook.

Between 2010 and 2016 she was part of the committee for 'Welstand en Monumenten Rotterdam (committee for architectural quality in the city). Between 1997 and 2022, she has been a lecturer at TU Delft, first at the chair of Interiors Buildings Cities (Prof. Tony Fretton) and from 2019 at the chair of Urban Architecture. Between 2016 and 2018, she taught students at St. Lucas, Ghent / KU Leuven in their final year. From 2021 she holds the chair of design and construction 'A13" at the TU Berlin as a guest professor.

She regularly conducts workshops and lectures at home and abroad and works with various publishing projects.
