Concentration

Monitor your concentration

Try these tips to keep your focus on your courses while studying from home:

  • Organise a standard working day
Dedicate the same hours to study daily, e.g. from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Having a consistent routine will provide structure and help you stay focused.
  • Eliminate distractions
Minimise distractions by silencing notifications and blocking distracting websites on your smartphone and laptop during online classes.
  • Share your daily schedule with your housemates, friends or family.
If they know when you are studying, there’s less chance of being interrupted.
  • Study together
Studying with others can motivate you (you are not alone!) and help you focus due to some ‘social control’.
You can study together in the same room or online (via video chat) with:
    - siblings, housemates or friends
    - online ‘study buddies’
    - try to find online work buddies here (website)
    - study with ‘video study buddies’ (check ‘study with me’ on YouTube)

  • Use the Pomodoro technique to define study time effectively and stay focused
