Find or create the most optimal study space.
Your ideal study space can be anywhere. What matters is that it supports your focus and productivity. A good study space includes:
- a clear, organised desk or table
- minimal distractions
Some students focus best in silence, others with background noise. Some alone - others together. Find what works for you!
Establish ground rules with your family, friends and housemates so they don’t disturb you when you need to focus.
No study space at home?
If you can’t find a suitable place to study at your home, try some other places, like:
- Libraries
Libraries offer quiet study areas and, most of the time, outlets for laptops.
- Cafés and restaurants
You can study in a cosy atmosphere there, with often free Wi-Fi.
- Study groups
Join local study groups to collaborate and meet others.
- Co-working spaces
Hire a place in a co-working space to have a stable, comfortable and quiet place to study.
- Community centers
Sometimes, community centres offer free, accessible places to study during the opening hours.
- Parks or outdoor spaces
Studying in parks or other outdoor spaces on sunny days can be nice.
Take a blanket for comfort.
- Friends’ places
Study at a friend’s or family member’s place for motivation (social control) and some social contact.
