Abstract of the talk

In his lecture, he will give a personal reflection on the past, the present, and the future of the business process management (BPM) discipline. He will first sketch the historical development of the discipline, which shows its inherent multi-disciplinary nature. After that, he will continue by providing an overview of some major accomplishments brought forth by the discipline. His talk will conclude with a set of challenges that may inspire researchers from various backgrounds to contribute to the advancement of the field. The talk is meant to be of interest to researchers who are already active in the BPM field, as well as those who are not (yet).

About the speaker

Prof. dr. ir. H.A. (Hajo) Reijers is a professor at the Department of Computer Science at Utrecht University, where he leads the Process Science group. Both his research and teachings focus on Business Process Management, Process Mining and Robotic Process Automation. He often works closely with organizations from the service and healthcare sectors for his research.
