Quan Liu did an Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate program EUROPHOTONICS since november, 2013 at the institute of photonic sciences (ICFO, Barcelona) and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT, Karlsruhe). He centered his doctoral work on studying one-dimensional optical planar cavities to reach optimal broadband light trapping in thin film cells. After obtaining a PhD degree in Photonics in March, 2018, he did one more year postdoc at ICFO under the supervision of Prof. Jordi Martorell, focusing on organic transparent photovoltaics. Afterwards, he moved to Belgium and joined the OOE group of Prof. Koen Vandewal at the University of Hasselt as an Marie Curie postdoctoral researcher. His current research interests include reducing non-radiative recombination losses in organic optoelectronics and optical cavity enhanced near-infrared organic photodetectors.
