On Monday 4 September, the School of Social Sciences hosted a hybrid lecture for the HuLog project with Professor Maite Tapia. We are happy to share the incredible success!
Our guest speaker, Professor Maite Tapia of Michigan State University, delivered an enlightening lecture on 'The militarisation of labour relations: contemporary worker control in Amazon Fulfilment Centres'. The event was nothing short of riveting and we are delighted to highlight some key aspects.
Professor Tapia came all the way from Michigan to share her expertise, while the audience was in Belgium, as well as the UK, Sweden, Germany, Poland and the Netherlands. This demonstrates HuLog's commitment to collaboration and global engagement. We were very happy to see such a fantastic turnout at the event, demonstrating the genuine interest and enthusiasm within our academic and professional community for this critical research.
Everyone is talking about Amazonification, and this presentation gave us a glimpse of a possible future. The insights provided were thought-provoking and led to meaningful and important discussions. The event also provided a valuable platform for networking and connecting with like-minded individuals who share a passion for work in logistics and research.
The discussions after the presentation were engaging, allowing us to go deeper into the topic, share different perspectives and bring innovative ideas.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to Professor Maite Tapia for sharing her expertise with us, and to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of this event. Together, we will continue to have meaningful conversations and enhance our understanding of more people-centred logistics in our world.
