Prof. dr. Anneleen MICHIELS

About Me

Anneleen Michiels is an Associate Professor of Finance and Family Business at the Faculty of Business Economics at Hasselt University (Belgium), where she teaches finance at the undergraduate, graduate, and executive levels. She also leads executive programs for family wealth advisors.

She is a board member for the International Family Enterprise Research Academy (IFERA), a former chair of the Strategic Interest Group on Family Business Research at the European Academy of Management (EURAM) and a past Scholar in Residence at the Family-owned Business Institute at Grand Valley State University. Prior to joining Hasselt University, she held positions at the HU Brussel and KU Leuven and was a visiting researcher at Stetson University, Florida Atlantic University, and Adelaide University.

A faculty member of the Research Center for Entrepreneurship and Family Firms (RCEF), her research focuses on the influence of money on the family business and the business family (financing decisions, executive compensation, governance, dividend policies, etc.) and is published in international academic as well as practitioner-oriented journals.
