The Hasselt Diamond Workshop 2024 (SBDD XXVIII), held in Hasselt, Belgium from February 28 to March 1, is a renowned annual gathering for diamond technology researchers globally. The 28th edition, led by Professors Ken Haenen and Miloš Nesládek, featured:
This year's focus was on diamond surfaces and interfaces, alongside topics like the growth of high-quality diamond material, including, doping, physics of colour centres and their properties, and the chemistry and physics of diamond surfaces. The conference also provided a forum to discuss the use of these properties in, for example, quantum devices, high power electronics, biomedical and bio-sensing applications, and magnetic resonance.
Partners including Seki Diamond Systems, Diatope, MUEGGE, Qnami, HiQuTe Diamond, Mintres, Orbray, Diamfab, Konfidi, and Hasselt University via the Institute for Materials Research, highlighted the collaborative effort between academics and industry in advancing diamond technologies.
Next year’s edition (SBDD XXIX) will again take place in Hasselt from March 19 to March 21, with a focus on diamond-based quantum devices. The rotating chair will be taken up by Prof. Quan Li from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
